Frequently Asked Questions

Are chiropractors doctors?

Yes, we are. Doctors of Chiropractic are doctors, but not medical doctors. We go through education similar to what medical doctors go through to become licensed chiropractors.

Are adjustments painful?

If you have never been adjusted before, you may have some trepidation about the whole process. Being adjusted is a carefully controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. We use gentle pressure and minimal force to achieve adjustments. After you have been adjusted, you may report feeling something akin to starting a new exercise regime. To minimize discomfort, it is wise to drink plenty of water prior to your adjustment. You can also use icepacks and light stretching afterward.

How do adjustments work?

Chiropractic adjustments use the art of careful, specific, and controlled force with precision to align the spinal joint that is not moving properly. Often during an adjustment, you will hear popping sounds. These sounds are tiny pockets of air being released from between your joints. An adjustment does not affect the bones, but the connective tissue that hold the joint together.

Can I learn to adjust myself?

You may be able to achieve temporary relief through self-adjustments. However, chiropractors are highly trained, to adjust very precisely, with the correct amount of force and direction. Because you cannot physically achieve the angles and amounts of force necessary on yourself, it is not possible to adjust yourself correctly and accurately. Even licensed chiropractors have a chiropractor that does adjustments on them, as they are not able to adjust themselves either.

How should I select a chiropractor?

The very best way to find a chiropractor to work with is to receive a referral from someone who has used their services. Read through online reviews and see what other people are saying. Lifetime Family Wellness has over 140 5-star reviews. What are you waiting for? You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain by making an appointment today, and getting on the path to living a pain free and more functional life.
